Basic Pistol Level One is for the beginner through more advanced shooters who want to improve their abilities quickly. All experience levels are welcome including brand new shooters or anyone who does not know how to manipulate a firearm safely and effectively and wants to build solid foundational skills. Students who wish to learn skills applicable to self-defense and personal protection will benefit greatly. As well, students can work to obtain their Texas License to Carry, if desired. Ask about details.
Anyone who demonstrates intentional or repeated unsafe shooting practices will be asked to leave immediately.
All shooting courses take place at Copperhead Creek Shooting Club. Other courses locations vary depending on class.

You must first be eligible to obtain the LTC in Texas. You must complete a State required background check and online, four training course on basic rules and regulations. If you have no or limited shooting experience you should attend the basic pistol level one course first. At the completion of the Basic Pistol Level One, the student may choose to shoot the qualification course. This typically takes 15-20 minutes. If you have prior shooting experience and can safely demonstrate and operate a handgun to the level required by Certus, you can simply take the LTC shooting exam for $65. This is a one hour briefing plus the shooting exam.
Yes, with noted exceptions below. Students must be willing to listen and take instruction to operate and manipulate their firearms safely. We will begin with covering basic techniques and advance from there. NO previous handgun experience is necessary. Any intentional or repeated unsafe weapons handling will result in immediate suspension from the class without a refund. Only students who have paid to participate can attend - No observers unless you are a parent or guardian in required situations. Students must be at least 18 years old - younger if accompanied by a legal guardian. Due to the Department of State ITAR regulations, training is only available to U.S. Citizens and or Legal Residents. Classes, training and / or certifications are for individuals who are NOT disqualified by applicable federal, state or local laws. Individuals who have been convicted of a crime of violence or other applicable crime, are disqualified from training.
